In Pursuit Of Fitness

The Biggest Loser, Dumbbell, Tight jeans....what pop out of your mind when mentioned about this? No..it is not about how much KFC, Mc D treats you would loose or any voluptuous models promoting some weight loss programme. It is all happening in my house which is famous for its tasty delights among relatives and friends (don't want to list down the foods as yet). Yes, I'm witnessing this infront of my nose.
To start with, let me refresh my minds some few month backs when it all started. Our dinning room is strategically located where we have all the necessities within our reach apart from kitchen utensils. There we have got our TV together with the Astro Set. Occasionally we would watch Channel 703, 303 where we could satisfy our inner hunger by watching all the delightful foods being cooked in Asian Food Channel and laugh our hearts out watching 2 Days and 1 Night. Well if you combine both you will get an everlasting desire for food in front of your TV set. And there when the dining room become handy and we get our hands to anything that is edible. Thing might get worse during Ramadhan when you are not able to sample my moms cooking. Some samples of mom's cooking

Ayam Masak Merah

Chap Cai that goes well with Nasi Ayam

All this changed when my sister, turned to Hallmark Channel .... The biggest Loser shows in Channel . At first we taught we were just watching another as usual over the hype shows promoting how superior the reality show should be. For those who do not know what the show is all about, it is a reality show about how a group of people were going through a life changing experience of weight lost regime through painful repeating exercise and as usual some strategizing. After a few seasons watching winners after winners and witnessing they shrinking their size by half, suddenly it hit the back of my sister's head. As if she received a "divine" call , she asked herself a question. Why don.t we do it here in the house. We have a rusty set of dumbells, cycling machine which almost broken into half, and above it all, mak has started to slow down cooking those "addictive" cooking. Yes, why don't we do this.

As enthusiastic as the participants in the Biggest Loser, my sister started by doing the thing that I could not imagined which was.... through diet. Her routine diet took a swing from having breakfast with Nasi Lemak and a late dinner to stopping rice intake and an apple a day. Wow, she sure have those guts of having to pass mom's cooking. Focus she did for a few weeks and she claimed to see the result. I have to take seriously of what she had said as i have not only seen her shrinking, she had couple of time almost passed out when she took her diet to the extreme.
She stepped up her regime by exercising after that. At night she would hop on to the bicycle, and pedal her way for 30 minutes daily. For 1 month or so she continued her fitness regime and basically i just watching her reducing her size week after week. Looking at her it reminded me of myself few years back when i had almost the same ambition and thrust where i had the same physical regime but minus the diet la.

In Memories of Allayarham Pokda and Pakcik

This year mark the saddest chapter in my life for having to say goodbye to my beloved Uncles. Not one but two of them in a very short times. In memory of both Pokda and Pakcik, I would pen down all the memories that I could remember and eternalized them in this chapter of blog.
I spent my good years in early days having going back to kampung being greeted by my uncles and aunties. Being the eldest definitely give joy to the family especially seeing me playing in the courtyard of Berek Polis Pt Yusof. My best buddy that time was Ijan, the eldest son of Pokda as we were the only boys at that time who know how to create havoc and "terrorize" our neighbours and yet at the same time would gave our innocence looks once we retreat back inside the Police barrack . As I remember, Pokda would play with us especially football as that the only game that he could play . Since Pokda was the third child of the family, most of the time he spent in Kampung sharing thoughts and laughters with the elder family members. It was not that frequent that he came back to kampung as Policeman serving his duty in Bahau he did not have proper transportion. That was why he treasured every minutes when he stayed in Kampung.
In his younger years, Pakcik was the closest uncle to me. I would play around with him, being teased around and having sit on his laps whenever I need comfortness. He was the one that every cucu of Atuk Abu looks to whenever we need to lighten up our days. We can see how joyful he was whenever he was around with his nieces and nephews. The genuine feelings still stands until the final weeks before his sudden death. We will always remember how he would teach us whenever we were vacationing at Pengkalan Balak and Port Dickson on how to swim. He had a systematic approach to do it where he would first teach us how to hold our breath in water, and then floating yourselves as a basic thing that you need to know.

When people cheerful, he did not hide it. Same goes to Pakcik whom we know liked singing very much. I remember when I was 3-4 years old, he taught me a few lyrics that goes like this, "Jangan tunggu lama-lama, nanti lama-lama, dia diambil orang". I though somebody was going to take my toy gun from me and I remember instantly the lyrics. That night, Pakcik told me to tease Pak Anjang by singing those lyrics infront of everybody. We were all gathering after Pak Anjang engagement that night. After singing those lyrics I was relieved that I still kept my toy gun but my cheeks turned red for making fools of myself that night. My mom taught it was menggatal ( cheeky) but which 3 years old boy in this world know the meaning of those lyrics. Although we knew for sure that Pakcik was terribly off-pitched, he did not bother about it. Supposed Simon Cowell heard Pakcik singing, definitely his comments would be screened-off when Pakcik took to the "centre stage". He would just keep singing all the songs that he knew being played if he managed to grab his hand on a microphone. Here is the proof of how "conquering" he was with the mic during Zahari's wedding.

I still remember how geneorous Pakcik was when he took me out for a treats at KFC and watching movie afterward if I managed to score good grades in my exam. His generosity was equal than others.Every weekend was always the time I've been waiting for a game of badminton with Pakcik. He would shower you with prizes and I remember i was given his Gold coloured badminton racket costing RM 50 in 1985 when I scored 5A'S in my Penilain Darjah Lima. With that racket I finally had my sweet revenge whenever I played Badminton in front of my house. Sometime also I managed to defeat Pakcik in a game or two. It really looked awkward if a 11 years old boy managed to beat his uncle using the steely gate as a the "net" and parking space as a court. But somehow after a few years I could sense the result was predetermined since he wanted to build my confidence in the game. He knew that I was running for a spot in the School Badminton's Team and tactfully his "encouragements" did work.

Wow, after writing this journal for a moments, all the memories keep flashing back to me like a film story that will never end. I do not have the strength to write and describe beautifully all the memories that I had together with Pokda and Pakcik as I tried to hold my tears back of my eyes. Whenever I read back this entry and seeing their pictures I could hear their laughter and cheerful voices. Let reserve our prayer for them ...Al Fatihah

The beautiful game

It is the day for the world to witness the "greatest show on earth" tonight. In the end it boils down into two teams that showcase the brilliance of football skills versus the oracle octopus. Yes Spain qualify to the final game as I predicted 4 years back when I remember being asked by my former colleague which team would win the World Cup then? I was on my journey back from meeting Customer in Seremban with my Engineering Manager CJ Yong(You are my only alibi here), when he asked those question. That conversation itself were half hearted discussed as we remembered that day was the day when we spent four treacherous hours being grilled by the Customer Operation Manager explaining the "crap" that we produced (customers complaints rejects). Spain game has not changed as far as my memory can tell, having the same set of players in this edition but they have already grow in confidence by now. Having beaten my favorite team, Die Mannschaft (the team), Spain looks like to be the favourite going into the final. The Spain team a.k.a Barcelona in disguise will surely do what they supposed to do which is to win the World Cup as favourite for the first time ever. This will be their best time to lift the World Cup or they will be no next time as the like of David Villa, Puyol, Xabi n Xavi will come of ages in this final edition.

If my prediction in 2006 do came through tonight, I wonder whether I do have the same inner power as the Famous Oracle Octopus in predicting the World Cup Champion. Apart from our "psychic" ability, other thing that we do share in common is that we are also food lovers. Food rather than our brain motivate us to receives the intuition. Wait..If the prediction do come through, It will give me a chill. Next World Cup 2014.

Well, when I said I choose Germany as my favourite team, it is not simply without thought. Look how the Joachim Leow's Boys mesmerize almost everybody with their flair in the game and as usual the discipline tactics throughout the campaign. Names like Muller, Ozil, Podolski, Kessling must be remembered and come World Cup in four years time, we will see they will shine again and time will tell. So much will happen to them in the next four years so as their skills in the game. By then we might also see Paul change his mind and start to memorize the tricolor flag of his hometown.
